Gn15 Project Update 4

Wescott Mine & Mill Track Work

I worked on prepping the Atlas code 100 track tonight while listening to the YouTube Model Builders Live show.

The HO code 100 ties are not spaced correctly to represent narrow gauge track in G Scale, so modification is needed.  I noticed a modeling photo of someone* cutting out extra ties and doubling up several of them to give the track a more prototypical look.  It's a visual trick for sure, but I like the effect. This is a tedious process and care must be taken while using a #17 chisel blade to cut out the ties.

The turnout pictured above will be behind the backdrop and out of view (staging/fiddle track).

Once all of the ties have been cut and modified, I will be able to connect and glue the track down.

Happy modeling!

*I do not know the name of the person, but I want people to know the idea is not original with me.

Epilogue: Warrior Express Train Show

I had a really good time exhibiting the Wetterau Food Services Micro Layout at the Warrior Express Train Show in Arnold, Missouri this past Saturday.

Here are a few highlights and some photos from the show:

  • Set up was quick and easy.
  • A few glitches running the trackmobile, but nothing extreme.
  • A visitor who is a fellow YouTube Model Railroad member (good discussion with A.J. Kleipass and his parents).
  • An invitation to visit/join a local model railroad club.
  • A few fellow modelers who are interested in constructing their own small model railroad displays.

Overall, it was a nice experience. I look forward to displaying the layout again at future train shows.

Happy modeling!

The WFS Going on the Road

Test Run A Success

I was able to do a dry run setting up the Wetterau Food Services Micro Layout for an upcoming train show on Saturday, February 11.  A few minor glitches, but all-in-all a smooth process.  The video shows how it went.  Total setup time was around 24 minutes.

Boxing Up the Wetterau Food Services Micro Layout

I'm getting the WFS layout ready for its first train show (weather permitting).

Everything is boxed up and ready to go. I'm going to do a dry run with set up before doing it for real on February 11.

I'm also putting together a video of the dry run, and I will be posting that video on YouTube in a couple of days.

Here's the train show info:
