I constructed a jig from a printout of the bridge pier drawing I made in SketchUp. I used 1/8" and 1/16" stripwood as placement guides for the beams and posts.
I glued the posts and beams into position with canopy glue.
Up Next: Fill cracks, prime and paint piers.
I like using Sketchup for that very purpose. My only problem so far is that .. I *wish* I could print to plastic .. would be so much easier to glue up a jig in Polystyrene for wood construction.
ReplyDeleteWhy not laminate a sheet of clear styrene over the printout, then glue down stripwood. or styrene guide pieces onto the clear sheet surface?
DeleteThat will work .. thought about doing it that way. I wonder if you could feed some .020" Styrene through the printer (where it feeds straight and not around the rollers). It *might* work ..
