The planning phase for the 2025 Project Layout

With the completion of my Soggy Bottom Hollow Pizza Layout, it is time to plan a new micro layout project for 2025. I have been giving some thought to building a layout in N Scale. I have a ton of track and equipment just sitting around in storage boxes. I noticed a piece of plywood I had sitting out in the garage that I was going to use for a shelf, so I thought maybe I could put a layout on top of that board and create a micro layout to sit on that shelf.
I dug out my pile of n scale track and started playing around on top of the board to see if anything strikes my fancy. I have a couple of track plan ideas in mind, and the arrangement pictured above is inspired from those track plans. I have an old railway bridge I built way back in the 80s that would be perfect as a potential scenic element/view block. The top track at the left would sit behind a structure or small backdrop and serve as a fiddle yard. The main line leading off the right at the front of the baseboard could lead to a cassette or fiddle stick to allow a train to exit stage right. I am short one left-hand turnout, so I will either order one or rob my 2 x 4 layout that is sitting in a corner of my layout room. Decisions, decisions!! There are a lot of possibilities with this shelf micro, but nothing is set in stone at this point. I will let this sit for a few days and then decide if I wish to proceed with the track arrangement or make a change.
